How Yucatán can best utilise data skills in a sustainable recovery from Covid-19
Yucatán, Mexico – México
Pathway for a Sustainable Covid Recovery in Yucatán is a nine-month project, a collaboration between the Yucatán state government, Resilience Brokers and GIZ México and is supported by additional partners.
The project will identify how Yucatán state can use enhanced data infrastructure and skills to link economic, environmental and social development to a sustainable recovery from Covid-19.
These efforts will contribute to the state government’s wider Agenda 2040 initiative, a participatory plan of action to include the voices of residents and understand their needs and how best to meet challenges – not just in the short-term, but in building a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable future.
The work will cover three main themes:
- Data and digital infrastructure;
- Digital integrated systems tools; and
- Recommendations for sustainable development and Covid-19 recovery.
As a result, project stakeholders will co-create a strategy and action plan to introduce a digital tool that brings systems-level impacts to the region and utilises new data approaches in the Yucatán to support effective green growth planning and decision-making.
The project also seeks to build skills by training key local stakeholders in these new systems and approaches to ensure sustainability and value into the future.
Expected Outcomes
- Enhanced value from existing data approaches;
- New techniques that integrate data to inform transformative, systems-level decision making;
- Capacity building and technical training to embed new ways of working.
GIZ México works in México on behalf of the German government to promote sustainable development and create a more dignified future for all.
Camino para una Recuperación Sostenible post-Covid en Yucatán es un proyecto de 9 meses implementado por el Gobierno del Estado de Yucatán, la Cooperación Alemana para el Desarrollo Sustentable (GIZ México) y Resilience Brokers.
El proyecto identificará cómo el Gobierno de Yucatán puede utilizar infraestructura de datos y habilidades digitales para vincular el desarrollo económico, ambiental y social con una recuperación sostenible post-COVID.
Estos esfuerzos contribuirán a la iniciativa más amplia Agenda 2040 del gobierno estatal, un plan de acción participativo para incluir las voces de los ciudadanos, comprender sus necesidades y la mejor manera de enfrentar los desafíos, no solo a corto plazo, sino en la construcción de un próspero, inclusivo y futuro sostenible.
El proyecto cubrirá tres temas principales:
- Datos e infraestructura digital;
- Herramientas digitales de sistemas integrados;
- Recomendaciones para el desarrollo sostenible y la recuperación del Covid-19.
Como resultado, las partes interesadas del proyecto crearán conjuntamente una estrategia y un plan de acción para implementar una herramienta digital que genere impactos a nivel de sistemas en la región y utilice nuevos enfoques de datos en Yucatán para apoyar la toma de decisiones y la planificación del crecimiento verde efectivo.
El proyecto también busca desarrollar habilidades al capacitar a los interesados clave a nivel local las partes interesadas locales clave en estos nuevos sistemas y enfoques para garantizar la sostenibilidad y el valor en el futuro.
