Breakthrough business model

Driven by collective purpose and the power of collaboration

The Resilience Brokers Programme is driven by the power of collaboration and the networked strengths of our team, global partners and supporters. Our success will not be driven by competitive advantage. In contrast to the traditional models, we champion an inclusive, “open” model that is built on multidisciplinary, cross-sector collaborations.

This approach encourages the cocreation and exponential growth of “collaborative advantage”, which translates into growing access to networks, expertise, resources and learnings. All of which, are key to the successful implementation and rapid scale up of our Programme.

The exponential challenges we face to deliver the SDGs demand exponential solutions. Incremental approaches, while important, are no longer sufficient.

This is why it is more important than ever before to get behind breakthrough innovators like the Resilience Brokers, and support positive impact at scale, driven by new ways of thinking, disruptive technologies and relevant business models.

Funding model

Resilience Brokers Capital Ltd (RBCL)

A company set up to own and deliver the Programme.

Our business model involves selling 40% of the shares of this company to equity investors, who will become drivers of this massive mobilisation of impact investment capital and technological innovation in the world’s city regions.

Sacred Cities Fund

Created specifically for faith-consistent finance, to attract investment into Resilience Brokers Capital Ltd. The Sacred Cities Fund will channel large scale investment into selected Sacred Cities’ sustainable development projects.

Technology Scaling Fund

Revenue will flow back into RBCL through more than 1000 Apps’ subscriptions to the resilience.io App Library from clean technology developers and investors. Cities will be able to select and run these technologies through business model scenario tests for impact, before they are required to make procurement decisions.

The Apps’ subscription model–at $50 per technology per city per year for the first 1000 subscriptions–provides a low cost one-to-many channel to the world’s city region markets, with the potential to reach 10,000 city regions by 2030.

Urban Development Investment Funds (UDIFs)

UDIFs will be established in each city region to bring together a blended set of private finance offers, such as climate, municipal and social impact bonds, tapping into the enormous growth in demand by bond investors.

These funds will be made available to support the public sector to finance a pipeline of sustainable development projects, designed by teams in the collaboratories using resilience.io

City Regions Direct Funding

Direct Programme financing from city region sources. Including grants and blended public/private investment, among other sources of finance.
